Tēnā tātou e te whānau

Since the passing of the late Coach Kenny McFadden on 24 March 2022, the New Zealand Basketball Academy (NZBA) Executive Committee have been deliberating on the next steps in consultation with our key stakeholders. Maintaining Coach Kenny McFadden's vision of 'Excellence in Education and Basketball' has been at the forefront of our discussions. With that in mind we have agreed to place NZBA into hiatus. This means that all NZBA events will be paused until further notice. How long this is, we are unsure. However the Executive Committee will continue to operate in the background.

As Kenny said "NZBA will always be here." We will honour this and his vision by waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. Until that time, we ask that the use of the NZBA name and logo not be used for any events or by any teams. If you have any questions please email registrations@nzbasketballacademy.com

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT US

"Our family have been volunteers with the NZBA since 2013. We have had a variety of roles including managing, coaching and now as committee members. Our two children have played through the age groups with our son, Aniwaniwa Tait-Jones who is currently on scholarship at the University of California San Diego USA. The NZBA allows players to learn and improve their game and supports players to reach their basketball potential".
